KTLA Channel 5 Pet Adoption Segment

On Tuesday, July 13, 1999, Dr. Joanne Carson appeared with two of our Dalmatians on KTLA's Pet Adoption Segment of the Morning News. Dr. Carson discussed with Barbara Beck the Dalmatian temperament and the type of home a Dalmatian needs. Our Dalmatians, Jack and Sparky, behaved beautifully through all the filming. The news reporters commented that they had heard Dalmatians were "hyper" and were surprised how calm our boys were. At one point before the filming, a camera on a huge overhead boom was lowered to within a foot of the stage floor. Sparky got curious about it and went over to stick his nose in the lense. Dr. Carson did a great job showing and discussing Jack and Sparky.
We had hoped we would be flooded with calls to adopt these two gorgeous boys but we only received eight calls and none of the homes worked out. In spite of that, it was a great experience and it helped get our organization's name out to the public as well as debunk some Dalmatian myths. We greatly appreciate Dr. Carson appearing on TV for us! Many thanks also to volunteer Deborah Kac for creating the stills and quicktime movie for us.
